May Day poster making! #CommunityOutreaching #YaTuSabes #MayDay #WorkerRightsAreHumanRights (at Casa de 26th)

"your mother complains you are not tall enough.
your father worries you’re wilting away.
your friends say you look tired.
your boyfriend wishes you’d stretch
in all the places he likes holding onto.
i’d like to know. how the
empress inside your body.
the master of your soul.
i’d like to know. how
that storm they call
a woman. I’d like to know
how she’s feeling."

tengo una inquietud…

"you
have been
taught your legs
are a pitstop for men
that need a place to rest
a vacancy, body empty enough
for guests cause no one
ever comes and is
willing to
stay"

"your body is
your first
home"

"even her presence was bigger than his existence"

"i’ve said the words i love you so often to so many people they don’t mean anything anymore. to a friend who saves a spot for me in line. to the stranger who offers me their seat on the bus. to a boy i just met. to a slice of cake. ‘i love you i love you i love you’ so often when i finally meet him i won’t have words left to explain it"

"the abused
and the abuser,
i have been both."

a friend sent me an article that began something like this: “A person being carefree because they have zero interest in you looks exactly like a person being carefree because they think you’re amazing & are making a conscious effort to play it cool”
This piece was inspired by that.

"

you treat her breasts like a stress relief ball
from your therapists office
squeeze them between textbook fingers
till you forget about mortgage payments and rent
when they are the colour grapes
you drink them like wine
until the drunkness comes
and puts you to sleep.

she looks at you while
you rest wondering how
in the world she ended up
with a man just like
her father

"

"But if these years have taught me anything it is this: you can never run away. Not ever. The only way out is in."
